Today, courtesy of a post shared on Facebook, I read an essay/article the author of which stated that she did not understand six things about Fat Acceptance. If she really wanted to understand them, instead of grandstanding, she could have had hundreds of facts at her fingertips in seconds.
It became perfectly clear to me that instead, for reasons of her own, she was intent on not understanding, but on making some kind of point that "obese" people should not exist in their present forms.
I commented twice. Then I did not read any more of the replies. Instead I left in my imagination for FatLand. I realized then that no matter how hard we try to explain, how many viewpoints we present, how many exercises and so-called healthy meals we eat, there will be people who dislike or hate us as long as they are given permission by our society to dislike or hate us.
Thus we need a FatLand, a place in which people will never be subject to taunting, to harassment, to stigmatization.
And a place in which we need explain ourselves to nobody, no way, no how.

Fat Porn in FatLand
This is quite an industry in FatLand, but the ironic part is that it is seen and searched out more by people on The Other Side/USA than by people in FatLand. (They can make their own fat porn, or so they figure.)
And oh....guess who's funding most of it. Guess. Yes. You got it. Winston Stark. And oh, you can just guess how he has women audition for the roles..He gets off more on fat lesbian porn. Again..what a surprise. When some FatLanders find out about his latest project, they bring the information to the Board, which is about to be replaced by a House and Senate.
The Board has to make sure it votes before it is replaced because its members know that for a short while, at least, it will be difficult to vote on and get laws passed as the House and Senate members learn their ways around and rules are put into place.
Of course, when Stark learns of the Board's intentions, he tries every trick in the book to stop the vote or delay it, including disposing of some of the key parts of evidence - the websites themselves. But the FatLanders who have been trying to put an end to his involvement in the FatLand Porn industry produce more evidence. And the vote looms.
Will Stark manage to squelch or stop the vote? Will the Board manage to vote before they are replaced?
Read FatLand 3, the last volume of the FatLand Trilogy, to find out! :)

FatLand and Belly Dancing
Something that a lot of FatLanders didn't do much of on arriving in FatLand was dancing. They had been so often and thoroughly ridiculed for it when they'd been living on The Other Side/USA that they either didn't know how or didn't want to.
Well! The very first kind of dancing that they saw or heard about was bellydancing. Bellydancing was a natural first choice for getting some new FatLanders interested in dance because even on the Other Side/USA it was acknowledged by at least some expert practitioners that fat people had an edge over non-fat people when it came to bellydancing - a belly. Before long, classes and clubs were forming all over FatLand, and many of them functioned as parties. FatLanders who hadn't appreciated their bodies or bodies of other fat people before started to see them in an entirely new light. Belly dancing also led, then, to anything and everything from hook ups to dates to marriages.
This is why it was doubly and trebly a tragedy when Amirah, a visiting bellydancer from Egypt, was killed. Not only was it frightening and shocking for all the people in FatLand who knew her and were her fans, but it also threatened all the clubs and parties and appreciation of belly dancing that was now such a part of FatLand. It felt as if someone was threatening the very heart of the FatLand belly dancing community, besides everything else.
It was a sad day for FatLand when the assassination occurred, but it was an even sadder one when the team working to find out who had done it actually found out.
For more on this, read FatLand: A Novel. :)))))))))

Museum of Fat History
FatLand of course needed some museums. For what country or territory is complete without them?
So they built: Museum of Fat Cinema. Museum of Fat Painting. Museum of Fat History.
Ironically one of the most visited exhibits at the Museum of Fat History was the one entitled "Life on the Other Side During the Pro-Health and Diet Laws." The next most visited one was "Underground Fat Railroad" (see FatLand (1): A Novel for more about this group). And the third most visited exhibit was, appropriately enough, "Building FatLand: 2010-2019 - The First Nine Years."
Admission to these museums was free to FatLanders. Non-FatLanders paid a fee of $12.
The Museum of Fat History also had the best cream puffs in FatLand. (Downstairs in the cafeteria.) And no, the food was not free. But it was awfully good.

Fat Robots?
A confession.
I feel that I was somewhat elitist in FatLand: A Novel by mostly presenting events and daily occurrences from the viewpoint(s) of the leaders. In FatLand (2): The Early Days, I sought to remedy that somewhat. Archivists are not necessarily leaders. But in FatLand 3: To Live Fat and Free, I want to include people who are of all different walks of life, including historians, but also including people who work in different areas. However - this will be 2046-2047. Most of what we think of as manual labor will not exist then; it will have been computerized or robotized.
So the question is: Will there be fat robots in FatLand (3)?

Wish fulfillment
A little tidbit: the first part of FatLand, in which the TV show "Living Fat and Happy" takes place in a house, is not necessarily an echo of real-situation TV in the 2000's. It is both a replay of a house in which I lived when I was in my Junior Year of undergrad and a wishful replay of a house in which I lived in Madison, WI, in the 1990's. In other words - I am/was not ideal house material. I am way too privacy-appreciating and introverted. I just wish that I were more houseworthy. Not going to happen.
Wanted to be a spy, too, for a little while. Until I really really didn't. Hence Roberta and FIN (FatLand Intelligence Network) in FatLand 2: The Early Days.
I wonder which wistful desires will be fulfilled in FatLand 3!
